What is a pediatric physical therapy intensive?

A pediatric physical therapy intensive is a specialized program for gross motor development and correction. Physical therapy intensives provide the child with a concentrated amount of physical therapy in a short period of time; typically several hours of therapy each day, for multiple days in a row spanning over the course of 1-4 weeks.

Physical Conditions

Physical conditions can present developmental challenges by affecting the body’s structure, function, or mobility, hindering typical growth and motor skills acquisition. These challenges can stem from various sources such as congenital abnormalities, musculoskeletal disorders, or injuries, impacting a child’s ability to participate in activities of daily living and achieve developmental milestones.

Neurological Conditions

Neurological conditions present developmental challenges as they affect the nervous system’s structure or function, potentially leading to delays or disruptions in cognitive, motor, sensory, or behavioral development. These conditions encompass a broad spectrum of disorders, from genetic conditions like cerebral palsy to acquired ones like traumatic brain injury, each posing unique challenges that may impact various aspects of a person’s development

Genetic Conditions

Genetic conditions can pose developmental challenges due to their impact on various biological processes essential for growth and functioning. These challenges may arise from alterations in genetic instructions that affect the development of organs, tissues, or physiological systems, leading to a wide range of potential issues such as cognitive delays, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and susceptibility to certain health conditions.

Ready to gain gross motor independence?

You have questions,
we have answers

Any ideas to help with funding?

We suggest looking locally for foundations or grant issuers and recommend doing a quick google search of your area followed by pediatric medical funding assistance. For example, families in Denver have been able to go through Rocky Mountain Human Services. We have also worked with the Walking with Cora Foundation, The Megan Weisenbach Foundation, Hearts 4 Henry, Dots Tots Foundation and most recently United Healthcare Children’s Foundation.

Another suggestion for Texas residents only is Texas Elks Children’s Services.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule our Kamp?

While KinActive physical therapy intensive Kamp deposits are non-refundable, they are 100% transferable. Should you need to reschedule your KinActive physical therapy intensive Kamp after booking, we ask that you do so with as much notice as possible (Ideally at least 30 days, but we understand that life can be unpredictable!), and your 25% deposit will be applied to your updated Kamp dates.

We’re from outside the U.S., can your team help us acquire a Visa?

We sure can! We know that the Visa process can be long and time-consuming. Please let us know ASAP if you’re going to need any documentation and/or a Letter of Medical Necessity so we can get you all of your travel requirements in a timely manner.

I have other kids. Are they allowed to be in session, too?

It depends on age! Typically we have a room open for older kiddos to play in while their sibling is in their physical therapy intensive. Siblings and other relatives are also invited to hang out in our waiting room, if needed. The less distractions during your Kamp, the better!

What if we can’t stay for two weeks?

That’s OK! We can create a custom physical therapy intensive Kamp that works for you during your enrollment process.

Can we stay for more than four weeks?

Absolutely! While not always necessary, we’re happy to accommodate longer-stay physical therapy intensive. Please note that this does not apply to extensions of already booked physical therapy intensive Kamps. While we want to eagerly say “of course!!” to Kamp extensions, the ability to add onto an existing reservation solely depends on the team’s availability during the week(s) following your initial, scheduled Kamp. If you decide you want to extend your Kamp, we will absolutely work with you to try and make that happen! However, we can’t guarantee that we’ll have the availability to accommodate all Kamp extension requests.

Is it possible to extend our Kamp?

Yes, but we can’t guarantee clinician availability. If at any point you are interested in extending your physical therapy intensive Kamp or booking a follow up Kamp, please get in touch with your Kamp Coordinator to see what openings we have.

Do you offer an alumni discount if we want to come back?

Absolutely! If you choose to return for another round of KinActives physical therapy intensive Kamp, you’ll receive 5% off. This discount applies to all Kamps after your first!

What age range of kids do you see for Kamp?

At KinActive Kids we don’t necessarily focus so much on the age but rather milestones and gross motor development; however our most common kampers range from newborn to 18.
